DIY Cute Earring Holder

I am still very limited on my mobility so I have spent several hours (days!) on Pinterest. I came across an adorable earring holder and knew that I had to make one. Luckily, I had an old picture frame that was perfect size for the project.

I used acrylic craft paint and a foam brush.

I added several coats of paint and then went over with a darker brown paint to give a distressed look.

I cut six pieces of floral wire at the same length, then twisted them around to form one large wire. I am using this for longer, chandelier earrings, so I used only four tiers.

I stapled the wire to the picture frame and then twisted the excess around. I stretched it to the other side, very tightly, and stapled that side.

The finished project! I just love it! I have several more things to fill it up with but by this point I was worn out and needed to rest.

I got the idea from here:

I hope you make a beautiful earring holder, too!

A visit from Kingston (an overload of unbelievably adorable pictures)

Yesterday, Kingston came over for a visit to check on his Auntie Tasha. I am amazed everyday at how much he is growing and developing. I just want to freeze him and keep him this little for a few years.

I cannot believe that he will be two months old in 9 days. Where did the time go?

Mommy laid him down and the floor and I just started snapping pictures of his many different faces.

 Grinning at Aunt Tasha!

Love that face!

Texas Road-Trip: Day 8 (New Orleans)

Saturday morning started early...around 5:30 am. We were on the road by 6:30 headed for New Orleans.

It seemed like we drove forever and ever. The picture above is pretty much what the entire state of Louisiana looks like. It is field after field of crops. It was beautiful to drive through and see all the beautiful homes that are a hundred years old or older.

Once we got to New Orleans, it was like we crossed a bridge to another country. The buildings and architecture was beautiful, everything else, not so much. We were staying at the Marriot on Canal Street so we went there first. The valet took our car so we had to walk everywhere the rest of the night.

We walked down Bourbon Street to go to the Harley Davidson shop. Once we left there I was on a mission to find seafood for dinner.

After dinner we walked back down Bourbon Street. I was not impressed, at all. I was scared to death. I have never seen so many different people and so many bars and gentleman's clubs. I am glad I went but I am not sure I will ever go back.

We walked all the way down Bourbon Street to the French Quarter then over to the Boardwalk.

It was raining and extremely hot so we decided to head to Margaritaville to get shirts then back to the room.

We were back in the room by 10:00. I did not want to be out walking on the streets after dark. The view from our room was beautiful. We were on the 35th floor. We could see the Mississippi River and down Canal street. I preferred to people watch from the comfort of my room.

The next morning we got up early to head back to Tennessee. The sky over New Orleans was beautiful when we left.

I had such a wonderful time on this trip with my parents. I am glad we took this trip because family road trips don't last forever. We had a great time traveling through Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Texas Road-Trip: Day 6 and 7

I am very behind on post from my road trip thanks to my lovely gallbladder. You can read all about that here.

On Day 6 (Thursday) of our trip was nothing exciting. We went to Sam Moon so I could stock up on jewelry. We came home, fixed dinner and spent the evening in the pool. It is soooo HOT in Texas, we were still sweating in the pool!

I am wearing my new earrings from Sam Moon but they are hard to see!

On Day 7 (Friday...our last day in Texas) we went to breakfast and then did a little shopping. We had to kill time because my brother and sister in law's house was being showed that morning. We were home by 1:00 so we could start setting up for Macy's Birthday Party.

The pool party went great except for the fact that it was so hot in the pool the kids were screaming to come inside. So my brother got the water hose and started hosing them down while in the pool. That soon turned into a huge water fight. I walked outside to take a picture and I was completely soaked in a few seconds.

Once all the kiddos left my parents and I started to pack :(
We sat down and decided that instead of going back home the way we came, we wanted to take a different route. My Mom and I wanted to go spend one night in New Orleans. Dad wasn't to excited about this idea because it added two hours travel time. We were finally able to talk him into it.

Up next: New Orleans

Gallbladder Surgery!

In my last post I talked about how sick I have been for the last month. It has been a horrible month of not eating, nausea and vomiting. Finally last week the doctors decided that it was my gallbladder. I had a scan done and my gallbladder had stopped functioning.
I had it removed this morning...Thank God!

Last night, my parents and I went to eat at Chili's with our friends Tom and Wanda. I was calling it my "last supper" just in case something happened this morning. I ate like a pig and luckily didn't get sick.

I had to be at the hospital this morning at 5:15am and my surgery was scheduled for 7:30. My parents were in the surgery prep room trying to make me laugh so my Dad decided I should wear this on my face instead of my head!

I know everyone is jealous of my new socks! I was bored waiting on the 20th pregnancy test I have been given in the last month. If your a girl and your vomiting everyone assumes your pregnant! Surgery was over very soon and I was home by 11:00am. I am very sore and I have been a little nauseous. I am going to take it easy the next few days to recover.

My beautiful candy bouquet that Uncle Tom and Wanda brought me tonight! They know I love chocolate WAY more than flowers! The ribbon says, "Get Well Grasshopper!" Uncle Tom has nicknamed me grasshopper and it stuck.

I am off to bed. It has been a very long day!

Acid Refulx Anyone?

Nausea...check!
Heartburn...check!

For the past three weeks or so I have been sick occasionally. I wake up in the middle of the night or early morning very nauseous. I normally end up actually getting sick before I ever feel better. Somedays the nausea lasts all day. Both my parents have acid reflux and a couple of years ago I was diagnosed, also. I have never had many issues except for the occasional heartburn. I am not experiencing any heartburn, just nausea.

Okay, I know your wondering...where am I going with this? Well, I am interested to know if any of you have the same issues. Acid Reflux is more common than I ever imagined, so I am hoping to get some help! My mom thinks I have a hiatal hernia. I have a doctor's appointment scheduled for tomorrow because I can't stand being sick another day.

Do any of you have the same issues?
What do you eat?
What medicines do you take?

Feel free to email me @ tasharogers86@gmail.com if you don't want to leave a comment.
I will appreciate any help!

I know that was boring, picture-less post and I apologize. The rest of my Texas trip and a mini-vaca to New Orleans is coming soon!
