Good morning ya'll!
I am so sorry I have been MIA lately. I have felt completely overwhelmed these past few weeks. I know that God will not give me more than I can handle but I am starting to feel like He is pushing my limit. Every weekend since Christmas has been jam packed. The weekends have felt more like an extended weekday than the weekend. This past weekend I was very excited to have little to no plans. Does life ever go as planned? In my case, nada!
My sister in law was headed to Nashville for a girls weekend filled with hockey games and yummy foods. My brother and I were going to hold down the fort at home. We had a few things on the agenda like dinner Friday night and a basketball game on Saturday, other than that I wanted to REST!
The Bro, sissy and little man
Friday morning I headed over to my niece's (aka: sissy) school to watch her presentation I had helped her put together. There class is studying the presidents, so each person in the class chose either a president or their wife. They wrote out interview cards and dressed up as their character. Sissy decided to research Hillary Clinton. I was so proud of her! She remember the answer to all of her questions and made us proud. After the presentation, I headed to my school to take an Algebra test. Sissy's school called as I was walking out of my exam to inform me that she had a temperature and was not feeling well. I asked her Abuella to pick her up and take her to the doctor so I could pick up my nephew (aka: little man) and his friends. Sissy came home with a temp of 101. something. First change of plans, there would be no dining out tonight. Little man and his friends headed outside to shoot b-ball with my brother and I headed to the grocery store for dinner goodies and homemade chicken noodle stuff. The rest of our night consisted of hourly temperature checks, cough medicine, Tylenol and Motrin...poor thing!
Saturday morning we headed to our b-ball game. The brother and I are coaching little man and sissy's b-ball team. It has been a lot of fun but my brother is VERY competitive. He doesn't like to lose.period.at.all. (A little background on the bro: He started a business from the ground up several years ago. By ground up, I mean in a neighbors garage. He now employs over 1300 people. He recently sold the business and thanks to his hard work will never have to work again, but he will. He is the hardest working person I know and we are so proud of him! A lot to live up to, I know! ) Our team has not had the best luck and he was getting very aggravated and we all had a few talks with him to remind him that it just a basketball game and it is supposed to be fun (for him, me and the kids!) Well, we were on our way to the game Saturday and I looked at the game schedule and on the top he had wrote, "Have Fun!" I started laughing hysterically. I guess he had to remind himself that he was supposed to be having fun! Love him! We ordered in Japanese Saturday night because sissy was still sick. I made little man's special cupcakes, sissy brownies and apple dumpling for the bro. After all of that, the little man, the bro and I made our way to the theatre room to watch the All Star Game Dunk Contest.
Little Man playing on the Mac
Sunday morning my brother got up and went to get us breakfast. We couldn't go to church because sissy still wasn't feeling well. We all three, soon, assumed our position on the couch to watch the Daytona 500. In my family Sunday's are not for football, they are for Nascar. We watched the race and played Monopoly.
I was very sad that Dale Jr. didn't win, especially on the anniversary of his father's death. I was happy to see that Tennessee boy Trevor Bayne won! He just turned 20 years old and is the youngest person ever to win the Daytona 500.
Sunday evening sissy's temperature started going up and not down so I decided to take her to the emergency room. The ER was packed and it took them 6 hours to tell us it was a flu like virus and she would just have to wait it out. The poor thing was so tired and sick.
Monday morning I woke up with a cough and a fever...GUESS WHAT??? I went to the doctor because I already knew that yes, indeed, I have the FLU. Let me just say, I have never, ever been this sick in my life. I was unable to keep anything down on Monday night. I could not keep my temperature under control either. One minute I am freezing and then I am burning up. My whole body is aching and I am very restless. M.I.S.E.R.A.B.L.E. is all I can say!
Sorry for the long post (I am making up for time I missed!) about my boring but interesting weekend.
I hope you all are having a better week than I have so far, praying I feel better soon!
